Cutting
trees down is destroying the whole world in many ways. We need to deal with
this problem now. Can you help?
Cutting
down trees is also causing climate change. The world is burning scraps and
causing carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas). The trees job is to absorb the carbon
dioxide and let out the oxygen. But, because we are cutting or burning our
trees the carbon dioxide is not being absorbed. By cutting down trees it
releases oxygen but once you burn the wood you turn the oxygen into carbon
dioxide.
Throughout
the centuries humans have steadily cut down the trees to make room for the
human population which has grown enormously especially during the past 200
years or so. The trees have been replaced by houses, factories, schools, roads,
farmland and more. However, even many of these have been destroyed, mostly
during the last forty years, and are now regarded as a threatened habitat. Some
animals use trees as shelter, food, homes, etc and because of us cutting down
trees, we are their killing habitats, food and more.
The term phytoremediation
is a fancy word for the absorption of dangerous chemicals and other pollutants
that have invaded the soil. Trees can either store harmful pollutants or
actually change the pollutant into less harmful forms. Trees filter sewage and
farm chemicals, reduce the effects of animal wastes, clean roadside spills and
clean water runoff into streams.
Therefore,
we should stop cutting down trees. You can all help by planting one tree. One
difference can change everything. Spread the news around!
This is a well structured argument. I like the way you used a rhetorical question in your introduction. You have also made a pertinent recommendation in your conclusion. Remember to include your references next time.
ReplyDeleteAriana I like the topic you have chosen because trees give us oxygen and if we don't save them then we will not have oxygen
